The Reason Why Is My Moen Faucet Blinking Blue

If your Moen faucet blinking in blue light (on the Ready sensor), then know it is happening due to a few reasons. Usually, Moen MotionSense faucets flash blue lights and indicate internal issues.  These include:

the water supplies aren't turned on
  • If the blue light blinks fast, it means the batteries are in low power and need replacement.
  • If the blue light blinks and stops, it indicates the water supplies aren’t turned on.
  • If blue light blinks at a slow pace, it happens because you are using rechargeable batteries.

How to Troubleshoot?

Based on the blinking speed, the blue light in the Moen faucet can be fixed using diverse techniques. Here’s what I mean:

  • Fast – Pull the lid of the battery pack by pressing the bottom pulley. Then, replace the Moen faucet batteries by inserting 6 AA batteries that will stand for up to 1 year (12 months).
  • Blink and stop (in a cycle) – Turn on the water supplies (2 in total) and check if the water is coming or not.
  • Slow – Change the rechargeable batteries with AAA batteries.

The Reason Why Is My Moen Faucet Blinking Yellow

The Moen faucet blinking yellow light is a warning sign about something that needs attention. To learn the reasons, check below –

  • 2 blinks of Moen faucet yellow light meaning your batteries are running low.
  • 3 blinks of yellow light indicate a lost network connection (in between the control box and your faucet).
  • 4 blinks of yellow light mean unexpected hardware or part has occurred.
  • 5 blinks of yellow light signify hardware failure.
  • 6 blinks of yellow light indicate your faucet can’t communicate with the control box.

How to Troubleshoot?

According to the blinking times of the yellow light and causes, the fixing method will be different. Let me explain that below:

Cause #1: Batteries Are Running Low

When the yellow light blinks in 2 back-to-back flashes, it indicates the batteries are simply not full and need charging ASAP. To fix the bug, remove 6 batteries by opening the lid of the battery packs. And insert the new one and close the lid.

Note: If your faucet runs out of power, it won’t work.

Cause #2: Network Connection Issue

The yellow light sometimes flashes in 3 back-to-back flashes. It literally means the network connection error. You can troubleshoot the bug by trying the 2 methods given below:

Reconnect The Network In App

  • Check the Wi-Fi router to see if it’s working or not.
  • Then, locate the reconnect button on your device settings page for the Moen faucet.
  • Next, tap reconnect and follow the instructions in the app.

Restart & Re-add The Faucet In App

  • Take a paperclip and hold down the reset button in the control box.
  • Wait for the single beep that will occur 3 seconds later by making 2 beeps in a row.
  • Go to the Devices tab in the app.
  • Hit the +Add button to begin the setup.

Cause #3: Unexpected Hardware Issues

The 4 times blinking of yellow light indicates serious hardware trouble that can be fixed via an expert. If that happens, be quick to contact Moen Support for assistance.

Cause #4: Hardware Failure

Most of the time, the yellow light will blink 5 times to signal the serious hardware failure in the Moen faucet. To solve the bug, you have to call Moen Support for assistance.

Cause #5: Failure To Communicate With Control Box

If the yellow light tends to flash more than 5 times, then this indicates failure of control box communication. In that case, you have to reinstall the data cable and power cable to fix the error. Here’s the procedure:

Failure To Communicate With Control Box
  • Plug the data cable and power cable in the right way into the control box. Then, check if the yellow light blinks or not.
  • If not solved, then remove the data cable and power cable.
  • Let it sit for 3 – 5 seconds, and then reinstall them correctly.

The Reason Why Is My Moen Faucet Blinking Red

Sometimes when the LED light turns red, it indicates a serious internal issue that can be fixed. It’s quite rare to see the red light. To know why the faucet is blinking in red, take a look at the given reasons –

  • When the water is turned on or off, and water lines jerk around, this causes the sensor cable to back out and won’t work.
  • The faucet isn’t able to operate due to internal bugs (lack of communication between the control box and faucet).

How to Troubleshoot?

If the red light blinks fast and then stops, then you can fix the issue by trying the given methods. Here’s the detail:

Method #1: Adjust The Sensor Cable & Power

  • Locate the sensor cable.
  • Pull it out and then insert it properly.
  • Remove the power and then reinsert it.

Method #2: Reset The Faucet

  • In the control box, locate the reset button.
  • Insert a paperclip in the reset button.
  • Wait for at least 3 – 5 seconds. During this period, you’ll hear 2 beeps.
  • Remove the paperclip.
  • After that, add the device to the app and set it up.
